Project Objectives

This project addressed the following four research objectives:

  1. Examined the local social context in which CWPPs have developed, focusing on the factors that were important to enhancing collaboration and building and maintaining social capacity.
  2. Assessed ways to gauge the progress and outcomes of CWPPs over time.
  3. Identified and shared potential “lessons learned” concerning CWPP processes and outcomes by working with an advisory team of fire managers and community planners to continuously refine and evaluate those lessons as they emerged.
  4. Developed and implemented a knowledge transfer program that provided key results, in a timely manner, throughout the life of the project.
